Egg Custards

A mild vanilla cup custard. Great for a quick breakfast or snack.

Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 Tablespoons of sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Scald milk (180F+)
  3. Slightly beat eggs in a separate container
  4. Mix sugar, vanilla, and salt into eggs
  5. Slowly, pour egg mixture into the milk, whisking the whole time
  6. Pour milk mixture evenly into 6 custard cups
  7. Put the custard cups into a pan with 1/2 to 1 in. of hot water in the bottom
  8. Bake in oven for 30 mins
  9. Lower temp. to 325F for 10-15 mins.
  10. Test for doneness with knife (should come out clean when inserted into center)

Comments:

If desired, nutmeg can be sprinkled on top, prior to cooking
