Irish Potato Bread

A staple in Ireland. You can’t beat a bit of fried potato bread with a fry on a Sunday morning.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 - 4 Tablespoons of Butter
  • 3 Medium-Large Yukon Gold/Yellow/White Potatoes
  • 120 grams of Plain Flour
  • ¾ teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • Salt

Instructions:

  1. First, peel, quarter, and boil the potatoes for 20-25 mins so they are very soft.
  2. Mash boiled potatoes with the butter and allow to cool.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to taste. Mix into a dough.
  4. Place dough on a floured surface and roll until it reaches the thickness of a pancake. Cut into squares.
  5. Fry on a dry pan for 4-5 mins on each side. Store until ready to use.
  6. When ready to serve, fry for an additional 1-2 mins per side in oil.
